KU Chancellor issues statement on retirement of K-State President Wefald
LAWRENCE – University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway today issued the following statement regarding the pending retirement of Kansas State University President Jon Wefald. Wefald announced today that he plans to retire at the end of the 2008-09 academic year. He has served as K-State president since 1986.
“Jon Wefald has clearly provided outstanding service as president of Kansas State University. His record of service is one of the longest among public university presidents. Jon has been a friend to me personally and I’ve enjoyed working with him over the years. I join fellow Kansans in saluting his long and productive service in the vital arena of public higher education for the people of Kansas.”
The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
