KU Alumni Association to host Jayhawk Golf Classic tournament June 13 in Hays

LAWRENCE — The North Kansas chapter of the University of Kansas Alumni Association will host the Jayhawk Golf Classic on Friday, June 13, at the Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the tournament at 1 p.m. and pig roast at 5:30 p.m.

After dinner, guest speakers will present tournament awards. The program will include a raffle and live auction featuring Jayhawk memorabilia from the Orange Bowl and men’s basketball national championship. Speakers will be Lew Perkins, KU athletics director; Chris Piper, 1988 men’s basketball team member and current basketball analyst for the Jayhawk Radio Network; David Lawrence, former all-Big Eight offensive lineman and current football analyst for the Jayhawk Radio Network; and Kevin Corbett, president of the alumni association.

The tournament’s format will be a four-person scramble. Those not interested in golfing may attend the pig roast for $15. Prices to play are $100 for an individual or $400 for a team of four. Participants also may sponsor a hole for an additional $100. The tournament and roast are open to nonmembers and all proceeds benefit an alumni association fund that supports state and nationwide programs.

Heath Peterson, director of Kansas programs for the alumni association, will join Corbett in representing the association at the event.
