Komen on the Go mobile breast cancer learning center to stop at KU

Update 10/23/08: The location for this event has changed from the Kansas Union to the Adams Alumni Center.

LAWRENCE — The Susan G. Komen On the Go mobile learning center will visit the University of Kansas to educate the public about breast cancer.

KU’s Student Health Services will host this stop on the nationwide tour. Komen on the Go’s signature bright pink vehicles will be on west side of the Adams Alumni Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27.

The Komen On the Go vehicles convert into an interactive learning center that features computer kiosks with information on the breast cancer movement, lifesaving recommendations about breast health awareness, useful instructions such as how to do a breast self-exam, inspirational videos and an 8-foot “graffiti wall” for sharing memories or pledging support for the cause. Other perks may include information on how to volunteer in the area, details on the Komen Mid-Kansas Race for the Cure and tips on supporting loved ones facing breast cancer.

Local breast cancer survivors and health care professionals will be on location to share their experiences and knowledge.

For more information, previous event photos and a complete tour schedule, visit www.komen.org/go.

Komen On the Go is teaching Americans everywhere to take charge of their breast health and empowering participants to share information with friends and join the breast cancer movement. Currently in its fifth cross-country tour, Komen On the Go will be on exhibit in more than 50 communities across the United States. The tour is made possible, in part, by the Val Skinner Foundation and the LIFE (LPGA Pros In The Fight To Eradicate Breast Cancer) event series.
