University mourns student James Keeton Jr.
LAWRENCE — University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway issued the following statement today regarding the death of student James Keeton Jr.:
“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn James Keeton. I offer condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
Keeton died Oct. 23 in a car accident on Kansas Highway 10. He was a junior from Wichita and was double-majoring in biology and history.
He is survived by his parents, James H. Sr. and Carmen Keeton; two brothers, Matthew Moreno and Ruben Keeton; and a sister, Kathy Keeton. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wichita. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita.
