KU reminds football fans of bridge construction on turnpike
LAWRENCE — Football fans who will visit Lawrence for this weekend’s KU-KSU game should keep in mind that construction work on Interstate 70 could affect their travel plans.
The Jayhawks play host to the Kansas State University Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 in Memorial Stadium.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority is constructing a new bridge over the Kansas River, and the work has closed ramps on the north side at exit 202, the West Lawrence interchange.
Visitors coming to Lawrence on I-70 from the east should use exit 204, the East Lawrence interchange, and proceed through north Lawrence. Visitors traveling on I-70 from the west can still enter Lawrence at exit 202.
When leaving Lawrence, visitors traveling west will need to use either exit 204 or exit 197, the Lecomption interchange, because there is no westbound access to I-70 at the West Lawrence interchange.
The University of Kansas is a major comprehensive research and teaching university. University Relations is the central public relations office for KU's Lawrence campus.
