Campus parking, traffic flow to be affected by Lawrence cycling race

LAWRENCE — The Tour of Lawrence cycling event will limit traffic flow Sunday, July 5, on the University of Kansas campus. The race, which brings cyclists from around the country to Lawrence, will affect campus access from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

During the race, access to campus will be available at 11th and Maine streets and 15th Street and Naismith Drive. Cars will be allowed to cross Naismith and Maine to access parking. Otherwise, spectators and campus visitors will have to park outside of the race route and walk to their destinations. Spectator parking will be available in the parking garage adjacent to Allen Fieldhouse.

The race, known as the KU Campus Circuit Race, will be the culmination of three days of cycling events in Lawrence. The Eldridge Hotel Street Sprint and a Kids’ Bike Race will be held on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, respectively. The KU course will take riders on a 4.4-mile route beginning and ending at Wescoe Hall. Riders will proceed through campus north to Ninth Street and south to 18th Street.
