Media advisory: Services for former KU Athletic Director Bob Frederick

LAWRENCE – A memorial service celebrating the life of Robert “Bob” Frederick is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at the Lied Center of Kansas. Doors will open at noon.

Frederick, who served as athletic director at the University of Kansas longer than anyone except the legendary Forrest "Phog" Allen, died Friday, June 12 of injuries suffered June 11 in a bicycle accident. He was 69.

Since 2001, Frederick taught in and helped manage KU’s Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science in the School of Education. He specialized in sport management, sport law and sport facilities.

Media parameters:

* Seating will be reserved for working media. Please wear credentials from your media outlet.

* A video pool feed will be provided for television coverage. No additional television cameras will be allowed inside the services.

* An audio feed will be available for radio.

* No flash photography. Photographers are asked not to roam during the services.

* No interviews inside the Lied Center. Please be respectful in approaching attendees outside the building.
