KU Alumni Association welcomes new students with picnic in Wellington
LAWRENCE – New University of Kansas students and their parents from Chautauqua, Cowley and Sumner counties will be welcomed into the KU family at the Jayhawk Generations Welcome Picnic at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Wellington.
The KU Alumni Association and the South chapter will greet the next generation of Jayhawks at a picnic in their honor at Slate Creek Lodge, 411 Southwest Road. Area alumni, new students, students interested in learning more about KU and their parents are invited to attend and enjoy complimentary food and beverages. Each new Jayhawk also will receive a free T-shirt.
Bob Bourdette of Winfield, chapter president, Colette Kocour of Wellington and local alumna Linda Stewart are coordinating the event with association representatives including Heath Peterson, director of Kansas programs; Mike Davis, vice president of alumni programs; and Kevin Corbett, president.
Current KU students, alumni and University representatives will mix and mingle with students to answer questions and offer advice.

The Alumni Association invited transfer students and incoming freshmen whose enrollment deposits were received by the KU Office of Admissions and Scholarships on or before May 1.
