LAWRENCE — Incoming University of Kansas students and their parents from Allen, Bourbon and Woodson counties will be welcomed into the KU family at the Jayhawk Generations Welcome Picnic at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in Fort Scott.

The KU Alumni Association and its Southeast chapter will greet the next generation of Jayhawks at the Carriage House, 301 S. Main. Area alumni, new students, students interested in learning more about KU and parents are invited to attend and enjoy complimentary food and beverages. Each new Jayhawk will also receive a free T-shirt.

Gary Cullor and Phil Hammons of Fort Scott, steering committee members, are coordinating the event with alumni association representatives Joy Maxwell, director of Kansas City programs; Jennifer Sanner, senior vice president for communications; and Claire Penzler, intern. Current KU students, alumni and university representatives will mix and mingle with students to answer questions and offer advice.
