11 UKanTeach students named Robert Noyce Scholars

More Information

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas Center for Science Education has awarded 11 Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarships to students who have committed to teaching science and mathematics in high-needs school districts.

The scholarships range from $5,000 to $10,000 and are provided through the National Science Foundation to encourage talented science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors and professionals to become mathematics and science teachers in elementary, middle and high schools.

The scholarship recipients at KU are participants in the Center for Science Education’s teacher development program known as UKanTeach. The program provides a pathway for KU students to earn not only a degree in mathematics or the natural sciences but also to obtain a teaching license. The goal is to increase highly qualified math and science teachers in the schools most at need across Kansas.
