KU unveils free iPhone app

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas is now offering iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users a free app for easy access to campus news, events and other features, including the revered Rock Chalk Chant.

Current students, faculty and staff, as well as alumni, parents and prospective students, can find ways to connect to KU via the free app available at the Apple iTunes App Store. The app includes:

  • A searchable campus map that allows users to pinpoint their locations and look up building information
  • The university’s current news via the Twitter.com/kunews feed
  • Campus news and Jayhawk sports from the University Daily Kansan
  • The latest videos from Youtube.com/KU
  • Beautiful campus photos from KU’s official Flickr page, easily converted into wallpaper
  • Checklists for applicants and newly admitted students
  • Directory of key KU Web sites
  • Current weather and the seven-day forecast
  • Interactive polls

“This is a great way for people to keep up with what’s happening at this great university, at any time, from anywhere,” said Lauren Erickson, assistant director of communications for the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. “We are excited to put KU at your fingertips.”

The free app is provided by the Office of Admissions and Scholarships and the Office of University Relations in collaboration with Straxis Technology.
