Political insiders to discuss midterm election at Dole Institute

More Information

LAWRENCE — Campaign strategists, journalists, media consultants and pollsters will analyze the midterm election results at the 2010 Post Election Conference, sponsored by the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas.

The event will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, and 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Dole Institute.

The conference will focus on the game-changing outcomes for both Democrats and Republicans and what the next two years may look like. The event is free and open to the public.

“For the first time in contemporary history, we have had three consecutive ‘change’ elections with tremendous drama,” said Dole Institute Director Bill Lacy. “Our goal will be to look at the underlying causes of this year’s election and the impact on U.S. policy and 2012.”

Previous Post Election Conferences at the Dole Institute have been acknowledged by the New York Times and FiveThirtyEight.com as premiere events for inside analysis on election results and thoughts about the future.

Panelists will include Jon Cohen, director of polling for the Washington Post; Rich Cohen, reporter for Politico; Linda DiVall, president of Republican Party polling firm American Viewpoint; Peter Fenn, president of Fenn Communications Group and a Dole Fellow; Major Garrett, congressional correspondent for National Journal and former Fox White House correspondent; Karen Hanretty, Republican strategist and former communications director for the Republican Campaign Committee; David Kensinger, manager for Gov.-elect Sam Brownback and principal in Kensinger and Associates; Anne Kornblut, Washington Post staff writer; Joe Lenski, executive vice president and co-founder of Edison Media Research; and Jim Margolis, senior partner of GMMB and Democratic media strategist.

The Post Election Conference is a biannual event that has been held at the Dole Institute since 2006.
