LAWRENCE — Two upcoming shows at the Art and Design Gallery at the University of Kansas will feature work from renowned emeritus and current faculty.

The Emeritus Faculty Exhibition, which runs now through Feb. 18, features 10 artists known as experts in their mediums. Works on display will include sculpture, painting, printmaking, textiles, metal work and blown glass.

Participating faculty are Phillip Blackhurst, Vernon Brejcha, Dwight Burnham, Robert Price, Roger Shimomura, Cynthia Schira, Elden Tefft, Peter Thompson, Olli Valanne and Robert Wright.

The Visual Art Faculty Exhibition, Feb. 20-March 4, will be a rare opportunity to view 24 accomplished artists’ work in one event. All the artists are faculty in the Department of Visual Art in the School of the Arts. The professors have received recognition for prowess in painting, metalsmithing and jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, expanded media, sculpture and textiles.

Participating faculty are Norman Akers, associate professor; Jane Asbury, associate professor; Shawn Bitters, assistant professor; David Brackett, assistant professor; Matthew Burke, assistant professor; Carol Ann Carter, professor; Dawn Marie Guernsey, professor; John Hachmeister, associate professor; Tanya Hartman, associate professor; Jon Havener, professor; Mary Anne Jordan, professor; Cima Katz, professor; Michael Krueger, associate professor; Gerald Lubensky, professor; Marshall Maude, assistant professor; Judith McCrea, professor; Yoonmi Nam, associate professor; So Yeon Park, associate professor; Jon Swindell, professor; Lin Stanionis, professor; Maria Velasco, assistant professor; David Vertacnik, associate professor; and Gina Westergard, associate professor.

Following the faculty shows, the gallery will host nine more public exhibitions that will feature art created by students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

All listed exhibitions are free and open to the public.

— March 6-April 15, MFA student exhibitions. All featured students are pursuing their graduate degrees in the Department of Visual Art.
— March 6-11: Safiya Carter-Thompson, textiles
— March 15-22: Todd Pospichal, expanded media, and Will Vannerson, sculpture
— March 27-April 1: Tim Dwyer, printmaking, and Eugenia Ortiz, textiles
— April 3-8: Rebecca Barton, metalsmithing, and Cody McLouth, painting
— April 10-15: Geoff Kunkler, ceramics, and David Platter, sculpture
— April 17-22, Visual Communication Student Scholarship Exhibition. The work of students majoring in visual communication in the Department of Design will be on display.
