School of Pharmacy sets career day for Jan. 27 at Lawrence Holidome
LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy will host its annual Senior Pharmacy Student Career Placement Day and Undergraduate Pharmacy Student Career Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at the Lawrence Holiday Inn Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive.
Thirty-four employer representatives are registered to attend. They will interview and recruit senior pharmacy students for full-time jobs and post-graduate residencies and undergraduate pharmacy students for summer internships.
The event will feature employers from a broad scope of career pathways including retail chain and independent pharmacy; hospital pharmacy practice; specialty pharmacy practice areas such as long-term care pharmacy, infusion services pharmacy and compounding pharmacy; and post-graduate residency training opportunities in retail and hospital pharmacy practice and pharmacy practice management. Employer participants are recruiting for positions in Kansas and nationwide.
Approximately 90 spring 2011 doctor of pharmacy degree candidates and 125 undergraduate pharmacy students will participate.
The annual career and summer internship placement activity is coordinated through the dean’s office of the School of Pharmacy. Associate Dean for Administration Gene Hotchkiss acts as the school’s career placement coordinator and is responsible for planning the event.
The School of Pharmacy provides assistance to students in the job-search and interview processes, creation of resume and job-search documents and enhancement of skills essential for a successful interview.
