Law students organize 5K race to benefit Douglas County Legal Aid

LAWRENCE — A 5K run/walk organized by University of Kansas law students will benefit a clinic that provides free legal services to Douglas County residents.

The 11th annual Race Ipsa will take participants on a course through the KU campus on Saturday, April 9. The event is open to the public. Proceeds will be donated to Douglas County Legal Aid.

Registration is $15 until April 1 and includes a Race Ipsa T-shirt. The fee increases to $20 after April 1. Registration forms are available on the law school's website.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. on race day at the School of Law, 1535 W. 15th St., in the courtyard outside the first-floor commons. The race begins at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners and runners-up.

The race is organized by the KU Student Bar Association.

Douglas County Legal Aid is a clinic housed at the law school in which law students, supervised by faculty and staff attorneys, represent indigent clients in a variety of matters in municipal and juvenile courts.
