LAWRENCE – KU Dining Services Director Nona Golledge was named 20101 FoodService Director of the Year at FoodService Director magazine’s ninth annual MenuDirections conference.

“While I am honored to receive this award, it is also a tribute to the hard work of the KU Dining team,” Golledge said. “This national recognition is for them as well for their commitment to providing excellence service to the KU campus.”
 
FoodService Director magazine recognized several of Golledge’s major accomplishments, including merging retail and residential dining and leading KU Dining’s sustainability efforts. KU’s Center for Sustainability also had recognized Golledge’s work with a Campus Leader award in 2008.
 
The magazine in its award also noted her efforts to use local and organic foods while still cutting costs.
 
“I admire Nona’s levelheadedness and logical nature,” said Janet Paul Rice, president of the National Association of College and University Food Services, in FoodService Director magazine. “When dealing with complicated issues, Nona carefully considers the salient factors and reaches sound decisions. I greatly admire her calmness and composure. Moreover, she has a fabulous sense of humor. It doesn’t get much better than capable and funny, and Nona is both.”
 
According to the magazine, to be considered for the FoodService Director of the Year award, a director must have been profiled by the magazine as a FoodService Director of the Month in 2010. Golledge was profiled in January 2010. The FoodService Director of the Year is voted on by the 12 FoodService Directors of the Month from 2009 and the magazine’s editorial staff and advisory board.
